Keeping Tires in the Best Condition for Winter

by | Nov 14, 2018 | Safe Driving, Tire, Tire inspection, Tires

The colder temperatures of winter will result in poor air pressure for your tires. You may not notice it at first, but with time, the air will go out of them. When it is colder, this results in the air losing pressure in the tire. You will want to make sure that you check all the tires of your vehicle. This should even include the spare tire of the vehicle as well. If the other tires become damaged, you will have no choice but to use the spare tire. This will help you to get back home or bring the vehicle in to have the tire patched or replaced.

Consider the tire rims

Sometimes the rim can be the culprit of a tire going low. There can be a small bead leak from the rim. You should check the air pressure for each tire. It is best to check the tires after the car has sat for a few minutes. If the tire has been driven on recently, it could give you a false reading. It may look as if the tire is properly inflated, but actually it is not. Never drive on a flat or extremely low tire. This will result in damage to the rim and wheel of your vehicle.

Roads you drive on

The roads you drive on can also affect the tires of your vehicle, and also other parts. Gravel roads can do damage to the tires because of the surface you drive on. This can be caused by the rough roads and unevenness of the gravel roads. Age of the tire can also determine if issues are starting to form with it. So you will want to make sure to bring the vehicle in and we can inspect each tire for you. But if you notice that the vehicle pulls in one direction, it could be caused by poor air pressure in the tires.
