Having oil changes done on a regular basis is important. The oil will help the engine operate efficiently. If you ignore when the oil changes should be done, parts may wear and break. If you are not sure how often oil changes are needed, make sure to contact us. We can advise you on a schedule to have it changed. Changing the oil is one of the cheapest ways to make sure that your engine stays in good shape.

Oil Looks Black

The original color of oil is more honey brown. It will quickly darken after a few weeks of use. Once you start to see particles mixed in with that black oil, it is time to change it. The filter could become damaged too if you ignore it. If you overload the filter, it could cause contaminants to gunk up in the engine.

Engine Running Louder

Oil lubricates the engine. Without lubrication, the parts will start to grind against each other. This will create a more unpleasant noises than you’re used to from under the hood.

Can’t remember the last oil change

Besides the correct oil level, the most important thing about oil changes is getting onto a schedule. If you can’t recall the last time when the fluids were swapped, then change it out. Make sure to ask us what the schedule should be going forward as well.

Check Engine Light Won’t Turn Off

A lot of cars have their own oil gauge. However, for older ones, the check engine light might come on when there’s something wrong with the oil. If this happens, make sure to check the oil level in your vehicle. If oil is leaking consistently, there may be a bigger issue. Make sure to bring the vehicle in so we can inspect it for you. By doing so, your vehicle will be more efficient to drive.
